Budget airline Wizz Air has announced it will discontinue flights between Belgrade and Lisbon, a route launched in summer 2023. The carrier previously operated two weekly rotations, competing directly with Air Serbia, which offers three weekly flights. The final Belgrade–Lisbon service will operate on October 25, the same day Wizz Air ends its Belgrade–Copenhagen route.

SRBIJA NEWS – At the same time, Wizz Air is expanding its network from Belgrade. From October 28, new flights to Madrid will begin, complementing recently launched routes to Alicante and Friedrichshafen, which will continue operating throughout the winter season. Additional winter routes may also be introduced.

The Belgrade–Lisbon route proved popular, with Wizz Air and Air Serbia carrying a combined 74,400 passengers in 2024. This number exceeded traffic to destinations such as Madrid, Geneva, and Stuttgart, representing an 81% increase compared to the previous year. Both airlines started flights on the route in 2023, with Air Serbia launching in April and Wizz Air in June. In addition to Lisbon, Air Serbia also operates flights from Belgrade to Porto.

For the upcoming winter season 2024/2025, running from October 26 to March 28, Wizz Air will increase frequencies on several Belgrade routes. Flights to Bergamo will rise to seven per week (+4), while Dortmund and Barcelona will become daily with three additional weekly rotations. Basel will see two extra weekly flights (total seven), and Larnaca will maintain four weekly flights with two added rotations. Memmingen, Beauvais, and Malta will each gain one extra weekly flight compared to last winter, reaching eight, five, and four weekly services respectively.
