A five-year-old plum spirit made by the Prijepolje company Braća Tomašević received a gold medal at the 2026 Spirits Selection international competition on the Portuguese island of Madeira, local outlet PP Media reported on 4 November.
What the award means
According to the report, the distillery sells its products under the Ognjena brand. The award-winning entry was judged alongside more than 2,300 spirits samples submitted from over 70 countries.
The competition uses blind tasting, meaning judges do not know the brand or producer when assessing samples. PP Media reported that producers from Serbia won 44 medals at this year’s competition in total.
This is a business and international-awards report, not an advertisement or an encouragement to consume alcohol. The competition organiser’s official results should be consulted to independently verify the precise award category and placement.
