Roadworks on the Knjaževac–Sokobanja Route November 9–14: Traffic to Alternate Through the Work Zone

Roads of Serbia says pavement rehabilitation on State Road II A 217 will run November 9–14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic is not scheduled to stop completely, but vehicles will pass in alternating directions.

Roads of Serbia has announced pavement rehabilitation on State Road II A 217 between Knjaževac and Sokobanja. The work is scheduled for November 9 through November 14, 2026, each day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

How traffic will move

According to the official notice published on November 7, vehicles will be released through the work zone in alternating directions. The road is not listed as fully closed, but drivers may have to wait while traffic from the opposite direction is allowed through.

Temporary signs and traffic-control equipment will mark the work area. Drivers should follow on-site instructions even if a navigation app does not show the restriction.

Practical steps before travelling

  • allow extra time, especially between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.;
  • reduce speed before reaching the work zone and increase following distance;
  • do not overtake a queue waiting for alternating traffic control;
  • check the latest official road notice immediately before departure, because weather or site conditions can change the schedule.

The route serves local travel between Knjaževac and Sokobanja and visitors heading to the spa town. The announcement does not estimate the length of individual delays, so travellers should not plan around a fixed waiting time.
