Serbia’s caretaker government said on November 6 that it expects the new National Assembly to be constituted as soon as possible, followed by the election of a new government. The statement followed the Republic Electoral Commission’s decision to allocate parliamentary mandates. The government said the process should be carried out efficiently and in accordance with the constitution and laws to maintain continuity of public institutions. The statement did not announce a date for the inaugural parliamentary sitting or name members of a future cabinet. The allocation of mandates and the formation of a government are separate steps.
