According to the data provided by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, compiled with financial support from the European Union, Serbia recorded a notable increase in foreign trade between January and May 2025.
SRBIJA NEWS – The index of export value reached 107.1%, indicating growth compared to the same period last year. The average export price index rose to 101.5%, while the physical volume of exports climbed to 105.5%, showing that Serbian goods are being exported in larger quantities and at slightly higher prices.
A key driver of this export growth was the category “Food and live animals”, which recorded an export value index of 103%, with a strong rise in unit value (112.2%) despite a decline in physical volume (91.9%).
Imports also showed positive trends: the overall import value index increased to 110.4%, while the average import price remained nearly unchanged (100.3%) and the volume of imports rose significantly to 110.1%. Food imports in particular saw high growth, with a value index of 110.1% and unit value at 109.8%.
The terms of trade index (exchange ratio) remained balanced at 101.2, reflecting a favorable relationship between export and import prices.
These figures point to a recovery and strengthening of Serbia’s international trade position, along with structural improvements in the export sector. The report was compiled within a project funded by the European Union, highlighting the role of international cooperation in supporting the Serbian statistical system and economic transparency.
