The 32nd edition of the Palic European Film Festival concluded on July 23 with a grand closing ceremony held at the iconic Summer Stage by Lake Palic. The final night featured the screening of “Hey, Salashes” by Maja Uzelac and “Just Tell Me You Love Me” directed by An Le Ni.

SRBIJA NEWS – The festival’s top honor — the Golden Tower for Best Film in the Main Competition — was awarded to “The Two Prosecutors” by Sergei Loznitsa, who also received the Aleksandar Lifka Award for his outstanding contribution to European cinema.

Accepting the award in person, Loznitsa praised the international spirit of the film, which brought together a creative team from six different countries and heard eight languages on set — a true reflection of Europe’s diversity.

The Best Director award went to Paolo Marino-Blanco for his film “Dreaming of Lions”, while An Le Ni received a Special Jury Mention for “Just Tell Me You Love Me.”

The FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in the Main Program was granted to “A Quiet Life” by Alexandros Avranas, who addressed the audience via video message, emphasizing the film’s themes of invisible violence and social complacency.

In the Parallels and Encounters competition, the Best Film prize went to “Honeymoon” by Zhanna Ozirna, who expressed her gratitude to Ukraine’s military and creative community. A Special Mention was given to “Black Hole” by Monika Simec, who emphasized the power of humor in dark times.

The 2025 edition of the festival was held from July 19 to 23 across multiple venues in Palic and Subotica, including the Summer Stage, Eurocinema, Abazia, and Lifka cinemas. More than 140 films were screened across 16 sections, drawing an international audience and honoring cinematic excellence.

Organized by the Open University Subotica, the festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, the City of Subotica, the EU Creative Europe MEDIA program, and long-term partners like Gorki List, which continues its tradition of awarding the Audience Award for Best Film.
