Novi Sad school parents planned 5 November appeal to Education Ministry over headteacher

Parents at Novi Sad's Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium announced a 10 a.m. visit to the Education Ministry on 5 November to seek the headteacher's dismissal.

Parents of pupils at the Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium in Novi Sad announced that they would gather outside Serbia’s Ministry of Education in Belgrade at 10 a.m. on 5 November 2026. They demanded the immediate removal of headteacher Radivoje P. Stojković and said that the minister had not answered an earlier request.

Background and legal context

According to the parents’ statement, if the ministry failed to act, they intended to file a criminal complaint against the education minister. Announcing a complaint does not establish that the minister committed a criminal offence. A news conference was also scheduled for 12:30 p.m. outside the ministry.

As news portal 021.rs reported, on 30 October the Basic Court in Novi Sad imposed temporary restrictions preventing Stojković from entering the school and approaching certain witnesses. The measures relate to proceedings concerning alleged failures to comply with court decisions.

This is an account of the parents’ planned actions as reported on 4 November, not confirmation that the headteacher was subsequently dismissed or that the announced gathering took place.
