Niš student movement says electoral support does not entitle politicians to appointments

The student movement in Niš says some local politicians are trying to turn electoral support into influence over appointments. Its 4 November statement names no individuals.

The student movement in Niš has rejected attempts by some local politicians to portray their electoral support as an entitlement to appointments or political favours. Južne vesti reported on the statement on 4 November 2026.

Context and what remains unconfirmed

Movement representatives allege that certain individuals want to claim credit for the Student List’s success and influence future leadership appointments. Their public statement named no individuals or organisations and provided no specific evidence of the alleged efforts. The accusations therefore must not be treated as findings against any identifiable person.

The movement said that support from voters and other political actors does not amount to a political debt, nor does it permit bargaining over public positions. It also said that any unlawful actions it identifies would be reported to the competent authorities.

The outcome of political talks and any future appointments still require formal confirmation. This report describes the movement’s position; it does not establish the motives or wrongdoing of any party or candidate.
