Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has unveiled a sweeping socio-economic agenda featuring pension increases, construction of high-speed railways, and extensive highway projects nationwide.
SRBIJA NEWS – He reminded that the average pension before 2012 was just €202, and pledged to align pension growth with wages.
“Pensioners will get more… we will make up for years when pensions lagged behind salaries.”
On infrastructure, Vučić announced completion of 131.4 km of the Subotica–Novi Sad railway this year and forthcoming construction of the Belgrade–Niš high-speed train line, reducing travel time to under two hours with speeds up to 160–200 km/h.
Key milestones for 2025 include:
- another 24 km of the Danube highway, plus 8–10 km extensions to Golubac and Veliko Gradište,
- completion of the Belgrade–Zrenjanin–Novi Sad motorway and Fruška Gora corridor,
- Kuzmin–Sremska Rača road, Slepčević–Badovinci route,
- Čačak–Kraljevo–Novi Pazar–Montenegro highway, Zlakusa–Užice–Višegrad road, access to the Mali Zvornik–Karakaj bridge, and the Serbia–Montenegro highway (Valjevo–Vrbnica).
Vučić emphasized that these infrastructure assets will serve people long-term, regardless of political changes. He responded to criticism by underscoring that these are enduring, tangible improvements—not just rhetoric.
