In response to a critical water shortage threatening livestock on Suva Planina, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, led by Minister Prof. Dr. Dragan Glamočić, has launched an immediate emergency operation. Upon receiving reports of severe drought conditions affecting farmers in the region, the Ministry acted swiftly to protect animals and support rural households.

SRBIJA NEWS – Working in close cooperation with local agricultural advisory and expert services (PSSS), the Ministry secured and dispatched potable water tanks to affected areas. This urgent measure reflects the government’s direct and tangible support for Serbian livestock breeders facing extreme summer conditions.

“For the next 15 days, we will send four water tankers daily to ensure sufficient drinking water for livestock,” said Srećko Vukašinović, Director of PSSS Niš. “We’re operating in full coordination with the Ministry, local authorities, and farmers on the ground.”

Thanks to the rapid response and expertise of field teams, the situation has been stabilized. Animals have received critical care, and households can now manage this difficult period with greater resilience. Minister Glamočić emphasized the state’s unwavering commitment to its agricultural community.

“The Minister is in the field every day, standing side by side with farmers. This is the kind of policy we will continue to pursue—offering help when it’s needed most, with results that are visible and real,” the Ministry’s statement affirmed.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to monitor the situation on Suva Planina. Should further needs arise, additional water deliveries and logistical support will be made available without delay.

This decisive action reinforces the Ministry’s role as a pillar of support for Serbian agriculture, especially during crises driven by climate and seasonal extremes.
