Fog Reduces Visibility on Serbia’s A1 and A4 Motorways to About 100 Metres in Places

Roads of Serbia warned on November 7 that fog had reduced visibility to about 100 metres on sections of the A1 and A4. Drivers should slow down, increase following distance and check conditions before departure.

Roads of Serbia said in a traffic bulletin issued at 7 a.m. on November 7, 2026, that fog had reduced visibility on parts of the A1 and A4 motorways. The official notice reported visibility of about 100 metres on the A4 between the Trupale and Pirot West interchanges and on the A1 between the Pojate and Aleksinac interchanges. Fog was also reported around the Predejane tunnel zone.

What drivers should expect

Conditions can change quickly, especially in valleys, gorges, near rivers and on bridges. Drivers should match their speed to the distance they can see, leave more space behind the vehicle ahead and avoid sudden braking or lane changes. Anyone whose journey is not urgent should check the newest report immediately before leaving.

Visibility of about 100 metres does not mean the motorway is closed, but it substantially shortens reaction time. Extra care is needed when entering or leaving tunnels and where fog forms in small, localised patches.

Check again before travelling

The 7 a.m. bulletin describes conditions at the time it was issued. Fog may lift, thicken or spread, so travellers should not rely only on an earlier update. Follow variable road signs, instructions from traffic services and the latest official road information.
