Novi Sad: Serbian National Theatre staff seek resignation of acting director and management

Some Serbian National Theatre employees have called for the acting director and heads of three artistic divisions to resign, and asked the governing board to clarify the legal basis for the director's continued service.

A group of employees at the Serbian National Theatre (Srpsko narodno pozorište, SNP) in Novi Sad has asked its governing board for the resignation of acting director Dragana Milošević and the heads of all three artistic divisions.

Details and context

According to the employees’ statement reported by Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) on 2 November 2026, Milošević’s term as acting director expired on 1 August 2026. The employees want the board to explain the legal basis for her continued tenure and provide a written reply.

The signatories also raise concerns about professional and artistic standards, employment rights, personnel decisions and the theatre’s artistic programme. These are the employees’ allegations, not independently established findings; an assessment would also require relevant documents and responses from management and competent authorities.

The dispute concerns management of the Serbian National Theatre and is separate from plans to renovate the main stage of Novi Sad’s Youth Theatre (Serbian-language article). The original report did not establish that the requested resignations had been accepted.
