Subotica hosts Novi Sad Theatre’s Daniil Kharms-inspired production on 7 November

A Novi Sad Theatre guest performance inspired by Daniil Kharms is scheduled for 7 November at 7 pm at Subotica's Kosztolányi Dezső Theatre, in Hungarian with Serbian subtitles.

Novi Sad Theatre (Újvidéki Színház) is scheduled to perform “Why Do Donkeys Stand in a Draught?” (“Miért állnak a szamarak a huzatban?”) at the Kosztolányi Dezső Theatre in Subotica on 7 November 2026 at 7 pm. The production is based on writings by Daniil Kharms.

Language, tickets and context

Directed by Kokan Mladenović, the staging uses Kharms’s absurdist writing to explore the pressures placed on artists and the freedom to create. The guest appearance is presented as a birthday visit by the Novi Sad company.

The performance is in Hungarian, with Serbian subtitles. Organisers do not advertise subtitles in other languages, so visitors should take this into account when planning to attend.

Ticket information is provided through the Kosztolányi Theatre’s website. Check availability, any programme changes and admission details directly before travelling. This is an advance event notice, not a report that the performance has already taken place.

Organiser’s event listing: Subotica.com / Kosztolányi Dezső Theatre, 7.11.2026, 19:00.
