Zdravko Ponoš resigns as SRCE leader; party governing bodies to oversee transition

Zdravko Ponoš has resigned as president of Serbia’s Srbija centar (SRCE) party. According to the party’s official statement, its Presidency formally acknowledged the decision on 3 November 2026.

Zdravko Ponoš has resigned as president of Serbia’s Srbija centar (SRCE) party. According to the party’s official statement, its Presidency formally acknowledged the decision on 3 November 2026.

Who will lead the party before a new election?

Until an electoral party assembly is held within the next six months, SRCE says its Presidency and Executive Board will jointly oversee operations. No newly elected party president has yet been announced.

In the same statement, SRCE reaffirmed its commitment to European integration and the democratisation of institutions. Its leadership also gave a political assessment of the changes following the elections and expressed support for reforms. Those assessments are the party’s position, not an independently established conclusion about future political outcomes.

Stepping down from a party office does not automatically mean Ponoš is withdrawing from every other form of public life. Any new leadership arrangements must be determined through the party’s authorised assembly.
