Travelling around Serbia? This practical transport desk brings together official sources, route-planning checks and local coverage of disruptions. Last editorial review: 30 October 2026. Timetables, platform assignments, fares and border waits change: confirm them with the operator immediately before departure.
Trains: check the station, not just the city
Srbijavoz publishes passenger rail information, timetable notices and online ticket options. The operator’s 2025–2026 timetable announcement covers the period through 12 December 2026, but individual services can change before that date. Be especially careful in the Novi Sad area: the advertised station or interchange may be Petrovaradin or Novi Sad Ranžirna rather than the central station.
Before buying: check travel date, service number, actual departure/arrival station, seat reservation requirements, ticket conditions and whether planned engineering work affects the route. Do not treat a historic timetable screenshot as a live departure board.
Intercity buses and local transport
Bus operators and stations have separate schedules and sale conditions; Serbia does not have a single timetable covering every operator. Confirm the departure station, carrier, platform, baggage allowance and last service. For city transport in Belgrade, Novi Sad and other municipalities, consult the relevant city or operator’s official announcements, particularly for roadworks and temporary diversions.
On SRBIJA NEWS, search transport news, Belgrade buses and Novi Sad services. Check the publication date on every notice.
Driving: roadworks, winter conditions and tolls
The official Putevi Srbije Information Centre provides updates on state roads, maintenance works and traffic restrictions. The Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia (AMSS) also provides road reports, weather-related guidance and border information. Check the latest available reporting rather than relying on the examples from an older story.
Before a longer trip, check potential delays, road closures, mountain weather, fuel availability and vehicle documents. Winter travel may require suitable tyres or other equipment under applicable rules and conditions; verify the current requirements from an official source.
Borders and international travel
Waiting times differ by crossing, direction and vehicle type. AMSS provides selected border cameras and travel information. A camera or published estimate is only a snapshot, not a guaranteed border-crossing time. For foreign travellers, check passport and visa rules with the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and any destination country’s authorities.
Travel planning checklist
- Confirm the actual origin and destination terminals, not only the cities.
- Check the current schedule, day of operation and potential engineering works.
- Review ticket validity, luggage, seat reservation and refund conditions.
- Check accessibility and last-mile transport if travelling with children or reduced mobility.
- For driving, verify road closures, weather and border notices close to departure.
